In the Age of AI, Is "Context" The New Currency?

We’ve all seen the headlines about AI’s incredible speed. It can summarize, code, and calculate faster than any human. But as AI becomes a commodity, the real competitive advantage is shifting from how fast you can work to how well you can judge the output.
I was recently reading an Inc. piece that touched on this, and it sparked a reflection on the "Human Advantage." The reality is that anyone, at any age, can bring fresh insights and unique perspectives to the table. Some of these are born from raw creativity and a new way of looking at the world, while others are built through years of pattern recognition and experience. Both are essential. AI can give us the "what," but it takes a human to understand the "why," the "should we," and the "what's next."
In my view, we are entering a "Judgment Economy." Here’s why your perspective, regardless of your age, maters more than ever:
AI lacks "The Room": It can’t read the subtle energy of a stakeholder meeting or understand the complex history of a long-term partnership.
AI lacks Ethics: It can follow rules, but it can’t weigh the human impact of a decision or navigate a "grey area" with empathy.
AI lacks Ownership: At the end of the day, a person has to stand behind the decision.
The Scantlebury Consulting Take: The goal isn't to out-run the technology; it’s to use it to amplify our own strengths. We should all be embracing the tools that allow us to work smarter, while doubling down on the human intuition, curiosity, and lived experience that no algorithm can replicate.
Don't just be the person who prompts the AI. Be the person who knows if the answer actually makes sense for the mission.
Ask yourself -
What "human" skill have you found most valuable when working alongside AI lately?
